You will lead innovative and solutions-oriented teams in a fast-paced environment and be accountable for providing direction and leadership for the delivery of a range of economic development programs. The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) is part of the Innovation, Science and Economic Development portfolio and one of six regional development agencies, each of which helps to address key economic challenges by providing regionally-tailored programs, services, knowledge and expertise.
The intent is to staff the position in Waterloo. Should no suitable candidates be selected for the Waterloo location, the position may be staffed in Toronto.
In order to accelerate the selection process, internal candidates are encouraged to ensure they have valid Second Language Evaluation (SLE) results before the process is finalized.
In the Federal Public Service, Senior Management is referred to as the Executive group. This group is divided into five levels from EX-01 to EX-05. This advertisement is for a position at the EX-01 group and level.
A pool may be established and used for various appointment types and tenures (indeterminate, deployment, term, acting, secondment, assignment) within the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). All federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this staffing process to appoint a candidate to its organization in a similar position if a pool is created.

Essential Qualifications:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
Recent* experience developing and maintaining partnerships and relationships with a variety of stakeholders such as government, the private sector and not-for-profit organizations
Significant** and recent* experience managing human resources including direct supervision of employees and teams
Significant experience managing financial resources including direct responsibility for budgets
* Recent means within approximately the past five (5) years
** Significant means the breadth and depth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various related activities which are normally acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years.
Asset Qualifications:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in business, commerce, accounting, finance or other specialization relevant to the role
Experience providing recommendations to senior management*** on complex and sensitive issues
Significant experience developing and maintaining partnerships with business, industry, or economic development organizations
Experience promoting organizational improvements and leading transformational initiatives
Experience managing economic development and community economic development projects or programs
*** Senior management refers to positions such as Director, Director General, Vice President, Board Chair, and Executive Director
