Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical of similar ENG-04 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate periode of indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English essential, French essential, English or French essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post secondary institution in Mechanical or Building Engineering or some other engineering speciality relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience in the conception and/or management and/or operation of Heating, Cooling, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment or systems for buildings;
Recent* and significant** experience in the appraisal of energy efficiency measures for buildings;
Recent* experience in the execution of commercial or industrial projects;
Experience in writing project proposals or reports;
Experience in the planning or development of project proposal, or the coordination or execution of activities applied to building mechanical systems.

*Recent is defined as in the last 15 years
**Significant is defined as at least 10 years

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in design or operation of systems or technologies using renewable energy;
Experience with energy audits or in building commissioning.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

English essential

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of communication protocols for controlers (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LonTalk);
Knowledge of energy evaluation software for buildings (e.g., CANQUEST, eQUEST, Open Studio/EnergyPlus, TRNSYS, RETScreen Expert).

Ability to plan and coordinate projects;
Ability to effectively communicate orally;
Ability to effectively communicate in writing.

Autonomy;
Team spirit;
Creativity in problem resolution.

Graduation with a Masters Degree in applied science from a recognized post secondary institution in the field of HVAC systems, energy efficiency, and/or energy simulation for buildings;

Degree equivalency

Knowledge of refrigeration technologies.

Willingness and ability to travel.
