The CRTC is a federal administrative tribunal of about 450 employees that serves Canadians as citizens, creators and consumers, and is committed to providing them with access to a world-class communications system. CRTC’s employees are employees of the public service.

At the CRTC, we engage in a wide range of activities. As part of our role in ensuring Canadians have access to a world-class communications system, we supervise and regulate various services on which we all rely. For example, we work to encourage and enhance competition in telecommunications services, such as Internet broadband and mobile phone. We promote Canadian culture and the development of compelling and diverse content by and for Canadians through the licensing of TV and radio services. We also work to reduce spam, unsolicited telecommunications and other nuisance communications.

Intent of the process

Anticipatory Staffing. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff similar or identical positions, with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period ), as well as various linguistic or security requirements or profiles.

Education:

• Graduated with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization, such as law, criminology, commerce, business administration, mathematics, computer sciences, OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• Experience in drafting briefing materials or reports.
• Experience in researching, analyzing and synthesizing information from various sources.

Degree equivalency

Experiences:

• Experience in enforcing criminal, civil or administrative laws or regulations.

• Experience gathering and manipulating data using a variety of technologies such as scripting, databases, big data or statistical methods.
• Experience in computer networking OR system administration.
• Experience in digital forensics, network incident response OR malware analysis.

Operational requirements :

•The work may require travel for various periods of time and working overtime.
•Work schedule may change temporarily to address operational needs such as the execution of a warrant or participation in an inspection.
•Lead or participate in field work including inspections and the execution of warrants at private dwellings or businesses. Follows health and safety practices.
•The work may require you to wear a uniform.
