Intent of the process

The purpose of this process is to staff 1 Bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB) Research Scientist position in Québec (Québec) on an indeterminate basis.

This process also aims at establishing a pool of fully or partially qualified candidates to staff positions of research scientists at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate or indeterminate), with various linguistic requirements and profiles (French essential, English essential, bilingual imperative or bilingual non-imperative; BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Graduation with an acceptable doctoral (Ph.D.) degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in forestry, biology or in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position.

Productivity/Recognition

Documented scientific productivity and recognition as an author of research results in the areas of forest dynamics, ecosystemic processes, functional ecology, carbon dynamics or any other relevant discipline, in recognized journals, published reports, work and articles or other communications resulting from scientific research.

Candidates must demonstrate how they meet the following requirements:

Experience designing and conducting research projects in one or more of the following areas:
- Forest ecosystem dynamics in relation to environmental stresses, including climate change and natural and human disturbances (forest management).
- Forest ecosystem ecology, including, but not limited to, the effect of forest composition or biodiversity on forest ecosystem functions.
- Carbon dynamics in forest ecosystems, namely with respect to soils, litter and dead organic matter.

Experience using statistical analysis methods.

Experience implementing experimental design in the laboratory or in the field as part of a research project.

- Carbon dynamics in forest ecosystems, namely with respect to soils, litter and dead organic matter.

Experience in scientific knowledge to forest stakeholders.

Experience writing grant applications.

Significant experience* in budget and human resource management and planning.

Significant experience* using advanced statistical data related to the field of forestry, biology or natural sciences related to the duties of the position.

Experience in modelling
