Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate Bilingual BBB/BBB position in Montreal, QC. A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process which may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Environment and Climate Change Canada in Montreal, QC with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, various security clearance levels as well as tenures (Term, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Indeterminate, Deployment) according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in providing mail-related services in a professional office environment (including mail pickup and delivery, mail sorting and distribution).

Experience in management of a wide range of material and equipment in a warehouse setting.

Experience in handling, shipping, receiving, packing and storing Dangerous Goods.

Experience in inventory control.

Experience using a forklift for storing and retrieving goods.

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of Postal regulations associated with the handling of mail.

Knowledge of mail and courier management practices, procedures, and work methods.

Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act (1992) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Knowledge of International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).

ABILITIES/SKILLS:

Ability to plan and organize the workload to meet established priorities and deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively orally.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in a federal government warehouse or providing postal services within the federal government.

Experience in ensuring the proper control of negotiable instruments in a mailroom.

Experience using the Canada Post mail management tool.

Experience in the use of the integrated financial management system SAP.

Be willing and able to work overtime upon request and on short notice.

Conditions of employment

Ability to obtain and retain a Forklift Operators qualification.

Ability to lift and handle items weighing up to 30 lbs. following safety procedures.
