EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two (2) years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
NOTES:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training, and/or experience whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP, or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary education at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions in which the manager has specified this alternative.
EXPERIENCES:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the IM/IT field.
Significant* experience in developing or maintaining or implementing Business Intelligence (BI) or analytics solutions.
Recent** experience doing options analysis and making recommendations within a BI, analytics or enterprise data warehouse environment.
Experience leading or providing key technical expertise to a technology installation or upgrading projects within a BI, analytics or enterprise data warehouse environment.
Recent** experience in developing IT project work estimates and development schedules.
Recent** experience in working with service providers to ensure the on-going maintenance or sustainability of an IT Infrastructure (hardware or software) for a BI or analytics environment including, but not limited to, DBAs, vendors or Shared Services Canada.
Experience in researching new technologies and providing recommendations to management and clients.
NOTES:
1. Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of three (3) years.
2. Recent experience is understood to mean within the last five (5) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
University or College degree or certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
CAP – Certified Analytics Professional.
CBAP – Certified Business Analyst Professional.
CBIP – Certified Business Intelligence Professional.
CDMP – Certified Data Management Professional.
CIMP – Certified Information Management Professional.
Professional Certification Program from IBM.
TOGAF – The Open Group Architecture Framework.
EXPERIENCES:
Experience in preparing technical documentation (e.g. software and architecture documents, User guides, etc.).
Experience working as part of a BI reporting team with an enterprise data warehouse.
Experience installing and configuring Cognos products.
Hands-on experience in developing BI solutions using Cognos 11/analytics, Business Intelligence suite of products.
Experience in developing active reports in Cognos BI suite of products.
Experience in developing dashboards that integrate data from various sources using Cognos 11/analytics.
Experience developing data visualization reports using Cognos 11/ analytics.
Experience in developing IM/IT plans or architecture components in alignment with business goals and strategies.
Experience in maintenance or application development using Oracle 11g.
Experience in using IBM InfoSphere suite of products, such as DataStage for Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL), to develop BI solutions.
Experience managing or developing solutions in an SAP Business Objects Enterprise suite of products.
Experience in the configuration, administration, and maintenance of SAP Business Objects Enterprise suite of products.
Experience as the senior resource responsible for the maintenance of IT infrastructure, including but not limited to hardware and software to support a Business Intelligence (BI) service.
Experience working to up-grade an IT infrastructure.
Experience working with Supervisors (Manager, Director and above) in planning the on-going sustainability of an IT infrastructure.
Experience in verifying licence allocations and usage, including the review and approval of annual support and maintenance contracts.
Experience working with IT Security to ensure that an IT infrastructure meets organizational security standards.
Experience developing reporting solutions against SAP financial.
Experience developing reporting solutions against PeopleSoft.
Experience working on IBM Cognos development projects.
Experience working with SAP Business Objects Enterprise reporting solutions.
Experience working with Crystal Reports development projects.
Experience working with geo-spatial and mapping reporting solutions, including ESRI Maps for Cognos.
