Reporting to the National Capital Region (NCR), qualified candidates will be considered to join the team virtually, from any of the Transport Canada offices listed in the area of selection. The employee will be expected to perform all functions of the positions regardless of the headquarters in which they are located and may report to a manager who is working in another location.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff positions in the Technology and Information Management Services Directorate reporting to Ottawa. An essentially assessed pool and/or a partially assessed pool may be established and may be used to staff similar positions in various locations, with various language requirements and/or profiles and various tenures at Transport Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

NOTES:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is a recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met via this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

-*Recent and **significant experience in the implementation or maintenance of Information Management (IM)/Information Technology (IT) systems using object-oriented programming.

- *Recent and **significant experience using code repositories while implementing, testing or providing support for IM/IT systems.

- *Recent experience with producing technical documentation such as design documents, user guides or installation guides.

- *Recent experience collaborating with clients or external stakeholders in support of IM/IT systems including analyzing and documenting requirements.

*Recent is defined as experience that has been acquired within the last five (5) years.
**Significant is defined as a depth and breadth of experience that would normally be associated with the performance of the duties as a major function of the candidate’s employment for a period of approximately two (2) years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Qualifications:

-Significant** experience in object-oriented programming using the Microsoft .NET
Framework 4.0 or higher.

-Significant** experience in creating statements to update and retrieve
information against a database.

-Experience with design patterns.

**Significant is defined as a depth and breadth of experience that would normally be associated with the performance of the duties as a major function of the candidate’s employment for a period of approximately two (2) years.
