Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
Experience in coordinating/managing field work or the delivery of logistics in an operational environment.
Significant experience in forging networks and maintaining collaborative partnerships across various levels of government departments and with stakeholders, including universities and non-government organizations and communities.
Experience in mobilizing efforts towards building a consensus for action and in leading change.
Significant experience in managing a complex budget and financial resources. (the level, volume and complexity, for example, this could include aspects such as managing recoverable expenses, significant acquisitions/capital projects, a high volume of transactions and procurements, a budget exceeding $500K in operating (not salary).)
Significant experience in managing human resources. (managing a diverse team made up of a variety of skills and occupational groups with a mixture of functions.)
*Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various complex related activities which are normally acquired over a period of two years at the Senior Manager level and the performance of those duties within the last three years.

Knowledge of current federal government initiatives relevant to the region in which the Polar Continental Shelf Program operates.

Experience as a manager in the federal government.
Experience in management or delivery of a science program or scientific activities.
Experience in management or delivery of a program in Canada’s North or Arctic.
Experience with logistical services, especially aircraft support.
Experience in a recoverable expenses/cost-recovery financial environment.
Experience in representing the Government of Canada or a department in national or international fora.
Experience in managing equipment and inventory management.

Secret security clearance - Requirement to undertake travel, including travel to remote locations in the North and Arctic, and internationally.
Requirement to work extended and irregular hours, and overtime, given the 24/7 operational nature of the program, especially during the field season from March to September.
An interview may be administered.

Reference checks may be sought. Candidates may have to bring a list of references to the interview (2 supervisors, 2 colleagues and 2 subordinates).
Candidates will be required to provide proof of their education credentials and/or occupational certification at the time of the assessment.
