Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill a position on an indeterminate basis.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates could be created and could be used to fill similar or identical positions with various tenures, security clearance or linguistic requirements. The pool of candidates could be used to offer acting appointments, assignments, secondments or transfers.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in the installation, configuration, and administration of heterogeneous, multi-user computer network infrastructures including both servers and user workstations.

• Experience in the installation, configuration, and administration of VMware infrastructure virtualization technology.

• Knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration.
• Knowledge of VMware virtualization technology.

• Ability to automate procedures using scripting.
• Ability to carry out projects and achieve objectives using appropriate resources.
• Ability to analyze, evaluate and resolve technical problems in a multi-user computer network within established timeframes.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally.

• Experience running a computer facility/lab, including the procurement of equipment, the commissioning/decommissioning of equipment, and the management of service continuity and backups.

• Experience in the design and validation of computer network architectures and solutions.

• Knowledge of computer and network security.
• Knowledge of GNU/Linux command-line tools.
• Knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP.
• Knowledge of current information technology (IT) trends.

• Ability to program using languages such as C, C++, JAVA, or Python.
• Ability to write and maintain coherent technical documentation.
• Ability to train and assist system users and operators.
