The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff this, similar, or lower level positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in the Atlantic Region on an indeterminate, specified period (term), or acting basis.

Education:
Graduation with a degree or diploma in marine engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Occupational Certification:
Transport Canada First Class Certificate of Competency as a Marine Engineer.
Experience:
Experience in the management of human and financial resources.
Experience in the management of ship life cycle management activities.

Asset Qualifications:
Experience in managing the operation, maintenance, repair and logistic support of ships, their systems and equipments while assigned as the Chief Engineer in a vessel of 750 gross register ton (GRT) or greater.
Experience in the coordinating the development of annual and multi-year operational work plans.
Experience in the analysis of program effectiveness and recommending new and/or changes to existing policies, procedures, and/or strategies.
Operational Requirements:
Domestic travel using various means of transportation such as ships, planes, and helicopters.
Secret security clearance
Valid driver’s license.
