STREAM 1: Safety Management Systems Inspector (General)
STREAM 2: Safety Management Systems Inspector (Railway Safety)

You will be required to demonstrate the Essential Qualifications (i.e. Education and Experience) and Asset Qualifications (if applicable) for the initial screening by answering online screening text questions. It is not sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. You must clearly demonstrate when, where, and how the qualification was met through substantiation by concrete examples. The screening board cannot make any assumptions about your experience. Participates in the design, development and implementation of the regional Railway Safety Management Systems (SMS) regulatory compliance program.
Plans, coordinates and leads/participates in the conduct of audits of trans-border, national, inter-regional and regional railways with regard to SMS implementation and maintenance; and recommends compliance and enforcement actions or measures for alleged infractions to the Railway Safety Act.
Performs safety data analysis services (i.e. trend analysis, risk assessment and performance measurement processes) in support of the determination of railway company profiles, regional operational planning, results measurement and program evaluation; and provides pertinent advice and recommendations to the Manager, Safety Systems Overview.
Assists in the design, development and delivery of regional rail safety education and awareness programs for rail safety personnel, client groups and the general public.

EDUCATION
STREAM 1 AND 2 (TI-06 General; TI-06 Railway Safety):
- A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
STREAM 1 (TI-06 General):
- Recent and significant experience* in auditing a management system**
STREAM 2 (TI-06 Railway Safety):
- Recent and significant experience* in working in the Canadian Railway industry
STREAM 1 AND 2 (TI-06 General; TI-06 Railway Safety):
- Recent and significant experience* in working in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Experience in writing reports.
* “Recent and significant experience” is understood to mean the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which are normally acquired over a period of (2) years and the performance of those duties within the past 5 years.
**Auditing of a management system is defined as documented activity performed to verify, by examination and evaluation of objective evidence, that applicable elements of the system are appropriate and effective and have been developed, documented, and implemented in accordance and in conjunction with specified requirements.

- Experience working with safety management systems, Quality Management Systems or in an ISO environment.
- Experience with risk management.
- Experience in conducting business planning, corporate reporting or performance measurement.
- Experience in conducting audits, inspections, investigations or quality assurance assessments.
