The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position. A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff similar positions with various security requirements (Reliability or Secret) and/or tenures within Environment and Climate Change Canada in Edmonton, Alberta.

Education:
ED1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in biology, ecology, conservation sciences, environmental sciences or natural resources.
Experience:
EX1. Significant* experience in leading or participating on multi-jurisdictional or multi-agency teams or partnerships focused on ecosystem, habitat or species conservation issues.
EX2. Significant* experience leading, coordinating or implementing wildlife conservation programs, projects or initiatives.
EX3. Significant* experience providing science-based advice to decision makers on ecosystem, habitat or species conservation issues.
EX4. Significant* experience analyzing and interpreting information on ecosystems, habitats or species.
EX5. Significant* experience working effectively on wildlife issues with at least two of the following groups: Indigenous people, federal or provincial governments, environmental non-government organizations, or industry.
* Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience, as well as, type of work handled related to the experience criteria. Such experience is normally acquired when having performed the duties over a period of three (3) years.
Asset Education:
AED1. Graduation with an advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution in a biological or environmental science.
Asset Experience:
AEX1. Experience in the use of quantitative methods for the analysis of ecological data.
AEX2. Experience working effectively with Indigenous communities and groups.
AEX3. Experience conducting consultations on ecosystem, habitat or species conservation issues.
AEX4. Experience leading programs or projects on species at risk conservation or recovery planning.

Asset Knowledge:
AK1. Knowledge of conservation issues related to woodland caribou.

AK3. Knowledge of legislation and programs related to wildlife management in Canada, particularly the Species at Risk Act.
AK4. Knowledge of recovery planning and implementation for species at risk in Canada.
Reliability Status security clearance
Willing and able to work overtime, irregular hours and weekends on occasion.
Willing and able to travel within Canada, including travel to remote locations in Northern Canada.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Pre-employment and ongoing medical clearance.
Willing and able to travel in small aircraft, boats, or off-road vehicles.
Willing and able to work in adverse environmental conditions.
Willing and able to obtain and maintain First Aid Training certification.
Willing and able to obtain required safety training/certifications and implement safety protocols.
