Pension Services is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the public service pension plan and ensuring that pensions are paid accurately and on time. The Strategic Planning team is a forward-looking organization, tasked with long and short-term planning and providing strategic analysis on pension operations within the federal government to senior management.

Intent of the process

The intent of this appointment process is to staff one (1) EC-03 position. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions (such as Indeterminate, Assignments, Secondments, Specific Periods and Acting Assignments with various languages profiles English or French Essential, Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB and CBC/CBC) and various security requirements (Reliability and Secret)within Public Services and Procurement Canada.

Education:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EX1 - Experience conducting research and analyzing data or procedures;

EX2 - Experience working with various stakeholders or partners in the public or private sectors;

EX3 - Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis;

EX4 - Experience summarizing reports and preparing briefing materials.

KNOWLEDGE:

K1 - Knowledge of the mandate and priorities of Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC);

K2 - Knowledge of public service pension plans (Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pension Plan, Public Service Pension plan, and Canadian Forces Pension Plan);

K3 - Knowledge of statistics and data analysis methods;

K4 - Knowledge of Treasury Board policies, the Access to information Act, the Privacy Act, or their regulations in which information is collected as it relates to public service pension plans.
