Work environment

Intent of the process

This advertisement will be used to create a pool from which to hire apprentices.
The Apprenticing Program trains workers to a high level of certification. Upon successful completion, apprentices are entitled to the Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton (FMF CB) Certificate of Apprenticeship.
The intent of this program is for developing apprentices. Fully trained journeymen should monitor the site for upcoming processes appropriate to them.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a minimum one year Post Secondary program in Electronics Theory.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience using a variety of general purpose hand and power tools

Experience working in a team environment.

Experience working within deadlines and deliverables.

Experience fabricating or repairing electronic devices.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

English essential

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of Electronics theory.
Knowledge of Test and Measurement equipment used in the Electronics field.

ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to read and understand electronic schematics

PERSONAL SUITABILITY:
Demonstrating integrity and respect.
Thinking things through.
Working effectively with others.
Showing initiative and being action-oriented.

The following may be applied / assessed at a later date (may be needed for the job)

Experience working in the electronic trade.
Experience or training in the marine industry.
Tidy and organized.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Must be willing & able to climb vertical ladders and work at heights.
Must be willing and able to wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (such as self-contained breathing apparatus).
Must be willing and able to lift heavy objects (approximately 50 lbs).
Must be willing and able to work in a confined space.
Must be willing and able to work shifts and overtime.
