Work environment

Are you a looking for a fast-paced work environment that is both challenging and rewarding? Crewing is responsible for the selection, hiring and scheduling of new seagoing personnel. They are also responsible for the crew change planning for the Canadian Coast Guard Atlantic Fleet. You will be required to act quickly to fill vacancies on vessels with short notice. Crewing Officers work Monday-Friday but are on-call on a rotational basis, providing 24/7/365 service. Working in conjunction with Senior Ship’s Officers, they provide the right people to keep the Coast Guard Fleet at its maximum operating capacity. Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process. The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff these or similar positions within the Canadian Coast Guard at the AS-03 group and level.

EDUCATION:

ED1: A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination* of education, training and experience in a field relevant to the position

*Acceptable combination is defined as at least six months experience in an administrative or crewing environment plus completion of relevant training courses or relevant post-secondary education (i.e. business; administration)

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Depending on the position being staffed, any of the asset qualifications may also be deemed as an essential qualification and only candidates and persons with a priority entitlement who possess those qualifications will be considered for that specific vacancy. EX1: Work experience* in any of the following areas:

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

AOC1: Transport Canada Certificate of Competency – Watchkeeping Mate, Near Coastal or higher

EXPERIENCE:

AE1: Experience working with a Human Resources Management System .
AE2: Experience working for Canadian Coast Guard.
AE3: Experience working in Marine Crewing.
AE3: Experience working in an operational environment.
