Work environment

The Public Service Commission (PSC) is currently looking for analysts at the EC-02 level, with expertise in a variety of fields, including economics, sociology, statistics, data analysis, computer science or other related fields.

Your typical work day would involve:
• integrating information and data from various sources to assist in the realization of the PSC's mandate
• conducting statistical studies and analyses to meet clients’ needs
• providing data and analytical services to clients, including senior management in the PSC, and in other departments such as Privy Council Office (PCO) and Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS)
• providing insight about staffing in the Public Service to a wide range of stakeholders by conducting client-driven research, generating reports, and providing data and advice
• supporting intelligence creation by putting in place sound and rigorous data management techniques
• developing and conducting surveys

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to create an "EC hub" which will allow appointees to work in different sectors, particularly in Oversight and Investigation Sector, and where required. This mechanism contributes to the development and learning of each appointee.

In addition, appointees will be mentored by Senior Analysts to support their professional development and career path.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established for future staffing needs with various linguistic profiles and tenures at the EC-02 level within the PSC and other departments in the National Capital Region, subject to the PSC’s approval.

Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization* in economics, sociology or statistics.

*An acceptable specialization is defined as successfully completing a minimum of six (6) courses in one of the fields mentioned above.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
-Experience with extracting, manipulating and analysing large volumes of data*

-Experience in preparing reports or presentations using Microsoft Offices (Excel, Power Point or Word)*

*The experience could have been acquired in school or in the workplace.

Abilities:
-Ability to communicate effectively orally
-Ability to communicate effectively in writing
-Ability to work in a team
-Ability to meet deadlines
