The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) indeterminate (English essential) position in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Please note that a pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff similar positions with various tenures within Environment and Climate Change Canada in the Prairie Region (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta) ONLY.

Education:
ED1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with an acceptable specialization in terrestrial ecology, agriculture, natural resource management or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience:
EX1. Experience working on conservation, restoration or management of prairie grasslands.
EX2. Experience planning and implementing conservation grazing plans.
EX3. Experience designing, implementing, and reporting on field monitoring projects on wildlife or rangeland vegetation.
EX4. Experience providing scientific and technical advice related to conservation, management or monitoring of prairie grasslands, and/or species at risk.
EX5. Experience working in collaborative partnerships with stakeholders.
EX6. Experience supervising employees, promoting safe work practices and tracking financial resources.
Education:
AED1. Graduation with an advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution, with an acceptable specialization in terrestrial ecology, agriculture, natural resource management or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience:
AEX1. Experience managing grazing to benefit habitat for multiple species at risk.
AEX2. Experience in grassland fire control operations or in planning and conducting prescribed burns in grassland ecosystems.
AEX3. Experience re-vegetating cropland or disturbed sites with native grass seed mixes.

Knowledge:
K1. Knowledge of scientific methods and experimental design for monitoring projects.
K2. Knowledge of grassland habitat management, including conservation grazing practices.
K3. Knowledge of the recovery strategies of species at risk of the grasslands of Southern Saskatchewan.
Abilities:
A1. Ability to identify flora and fauna from the Canadian Prairie Ecozone.
A2. Ability to work under pressure to plan, organize and set priorities
A3. Ability to communicate effectively orally.
