Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff one LP-01 and one LP-02 indeterminate bilingual imperative (CCC/CCC) position with secret security clearance. A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process, which may be used to staff similar LP-01 and LP-02 positions within Patented Medicine Prices Review Board PMPRB) in the National Capital Region, with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, various security requirements (Reliability, Secret), as well as tenures (Term, Assignment, Acting, Indeterminate, Deployment), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

LP-01 & LP-02
- Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in law.

- Membership in good standing in the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada or in the Order of Notaries in the Province of Quebec.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

LP-01 & LP-02:
- Significant* and recent** experience in the administration, conduct or management of litigation before an administrative body or the Federal Court.
- Significant* experience providing legal advice.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary team environment

LP-02 ONLY
- Recent** experience in the administration or enforcement of a federal act or regulations or in developing policy underlying the administration or enforcement of a federal act or regulations.
- Experience in investigation.

* "Significant experience" is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of approximately eighteen (18) months to two (2) years for the LP-01 and three (3) to four (4) years for the LP-02.

** "Recent experience" is defined as within the last three (3) years for the LP-01 and within the last five (5) years for LP-02.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS :
LP-01 & LP-02:

- University degree in a scientific field related to the pharmaceutical industry.

Degree equivalency

- Experience in litigation involving the Patent Act or the Patented Medicines Regulations.
- Experience in litigation management.
- Experience in the conduct of Federal Court judicial reviews.
- Experience in litigation support.

- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE:

LP-01 & LP-02:
- Knowledge of the Patent Act, the Patented Medicines Regulations and the PMPRB’S Compendium of Policies, Guidelines and Procedures.
- Knowledge of the practices and procedures of the Federal Court.
- Knowledge of administrative law issues relevant to the mandate of the PMPRB.
- Knowledge in the theories, principles and methods of administrative law.

ABILITIES:

LP-01 & LP-02:
- Ability to analyze legal issues and provide sound legal advice.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and short deadlines.
- Ability to plan.
- Ability to communicate orally.
- Ability to communicate in writing.
