Intent of the process

OUR IMMEDIATE NEED IS TO STAFF A BILINGUAL NON-IMPERATIVE (CBC/CBC) POSITION ON AN INDETERMINATE BASIS IN FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK AND AN ENGLISH ESSENTIAL POSITION ON AN INDETERMINATE BASIS IN CORNER BROOK, NEWFOUNDLAND.

A pool of qualified candidates may also be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position, or the employer-approved alternative for the SE classification.

Note: The employer-approved alternative for the SE classification is an acceptable master's or bachelor's degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree calibre.

Degree equivalency

Significant* experience in developing and managing research projects or programs in partnership with regional or national stakeholders.

Experience in supervising the work of scientist(s) in multidisciplinary projects or programs or in matrix context.

Experience in chairing committees.

Experience in managing financial resources.

*Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth normally associated with having performed a broad range of activities over a period of two (2) years.
