"The candidate’s COVER LETTER will be the primary screening tool. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet each education and essential qualification outlined in the Statement of Criteria. Resumes will be used as a secondary source to validate the education and experience described in the cover letter. Cover letters must include subheadings for each qualification and a short paragraph outlining how, when and where the candidate obtained the experience."

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university, with acceptable specialization in environmental studies, environmental management, environmental sciences or some other specialty directly related or relevant to the position.
Experience:
Extensive, recent experience managing or conducting environmental assessments, environmental audits, environmental protection plans or managing contaminated sites.
Experience in providing advice and recommendations to senior management.
Experience in leading or participating on multi-disciplinary teams or working groups.
Experience in developing and maintaining effective collaborations with stakeholders.
Experience in administering and implementing environment policy.
Experience developing requests for proposals and working with and managing contracts.
Experience working with, maintaining and reconciling invoices and budgets.
Experience in supervising, leading and mentoring staff.
"Extensive, recent experience" is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of the various complex activities related to this position and which are normally acquired over a 3 year period or greater, within the past 5 years.

Honours degree and/or masters degree in environmental sciences.
Asset Qualifications - Experience:
Experience developing terms of reference and scopes of work.
Experience working in partnership with Aboriginal communities.
Experience managing federal government contracts and/or funding arrangements.
Experience in contaminated sites management or in environmental assessment under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
Experience working with other federal departments, provincial, territorial or municipal governments, aboriginal groups, or industry to address complex, multi-stakeholder issues.
Experience in s. 35 Aboriginal consultation /the legal duty to consult.
