The Survey/CAD Technologist will work in the Real Property Operations Detachment and will conduct on-site surveys and provide design and drafting services involving the application of the principles, methods and techniques of engineering technology. The Survey/CAD Technologist will use data from the on-site surveys and from existing CAD drawings to produce site plans, architectural and engineering Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) documents for design and construction, support of project management, project tendering, maintenance and planning. The Survey/CAD Technologist will also perform on-site inspections to confirm existing site conditions and ensure the accuracy of technical/spatial data to be uploaded to the Real Property Spatial Data Warehouse. The Survey/CAD Technologist will be responsible for cataloguing and maintaining a library of archived drawings of all infrastructure at the Detachment.

Trenton is home to the National Air Force Museum of Canada and the surrounding area offers conservation areas, campsites, picnic grounds and marinas. Located south of Trenton is Prince Edward County which boasts many vineyards, camping, beaches and boating.

Essential Qualifications
Education:
EDU1: Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution focusing on Surveying, Computer Aided Design (CAD) or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or work experience.
Experience:
EX1: Experience in conducting site surveys and using data collected to produce BIM and CAD Models.
EX2: Experience extracting technical data from existing CAD documents and GIS databases.

OR3: Willing and able to travel and work in remote locations on occasion.

OR5: Willing and able to work in inclement weather.

A valid, unrestricted driver’s licence holding a qualification (class) equivalent to the DND vehicle to be driven/operated.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DND 404 Military Driver’s Licence.
