Graduation with a degree in engineering or applied science from a recognized post-secondary institution a discipline related to real property such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Graduation with a degree in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Foreign education credentials: You must have your foreign education credentials deemed comparable to Canadian standards by a recognized credential assessment service prior to the interview stage of the process
1. Recent* and extensive** experience in the procurement and management of design consultant and construction services.
2. Recent* and extensive** experience in project management and leading multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of high value*** and complex construction projects.
Definitions:
* Recent is defined as approximately the past 6 years from the closing date of this job advertisement.
** Extensive is defined as the complexity and diversity of work which would normally be acquired over a period of approximately 12 continuous years where the candidate progressively performed the role of an engineer on a construction project with at least the last 6 years as a project manager, managing all aspects and stages of project delivery including project design, tendering, construction and closeout. Complexity is viewed in terms of risk. Candidates are expected to demonstrate experience in managing complex projects with at least 3 risk factors, for example: technical difficulty, high stakeholder and media interest, stringent regulatory compliance requirements.
*** High value is defined as $20 million or higher.

1. Experience in “Construction Management” approach as a construction project delivery method.
2. Experience in marine construction projects, including dredging, shoreline improvements, construction of canal walls and water management structures.
3. Experience in the management of human resources and performance management frameworks.
4. Experience in bridge construction.
5. Experience in laboratory construction projects.
6. Experience in new building construction.
7. Experience in construction projects in secure facilities (e.g. correctional services, RCMP detachments).
8. PMP certification.
9. Licensed as Professional Engineer in Canada or as an Architect in Canada.

*CSIS Top Secret Security Clearance Procedure:
- Candidates must be eligible to receive a Top Secret security clearance to work on projects with CSIS. PSPC regularly works with CSIS and other public safety organizations in the development of classified facilities and infrastructure critical to keeping Canadians safe. The process involves a security interview, a polygraph, and a background investigation that includes credit and financial verifications. The use of illegal drugs is a criminal offense. Drug use is an important factor considered in your reliability and suitability assessment during the selection process. Therefore it is important that you adhere to a zero tolerance illegal drug use from the time you submit your application.
Note: Those selected must meet and maintain the above-noted conditions of employment throughout their employment.
