The Bricklayer constructs, repairs and maintains the masonry components of buildings and structure including chimney flue linings, brick work, concrete block, structural wall tile, refractory brick, metal ties, anchor bolts, reinforcing steel, welded wire fabric and flue mortars. The position is also responsible for the application of plaster and stucco coatings, cleaning of brick and stonework, overhauls and repairs of all refractory work to boilers, building steel frame scaffolding and from time to time directs a labour support team in the most effective method of job completion. The Bricklayer will also be required to participate as a member of a "Multi-Trades Masonry Team" by supporting the work done by the other Masonry trades.
The Department of National Defence (DND) is a federal government department. DND employees and Canadian Forces members, as a Defence Team, operate hand-in-hand to ensure the defence of Canada and Canadians at home and abroad. RP Ops (Esq) is part of the Defence Team, responsible for providing Infrastructure support to Navy operations.
There is an immediate need to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Victoria. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tentures.

Occupational Certification:
OC1: Possession of a valid Inter-provincial Red Seal Certificate in Bricklaying.
Experience:
EX1: Experience working as a mason in maintenance or construction environment.
