Intent of the process

Immediate needs: 1 term position to staff for two (2) years, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB.

The intent of this process is to also establish a pool of fully or partially qualified candidates. The pool may be used to staff similar positions within Elections Canada with various tenures (varying specified periods or indeterminate) and various linguistics needs (such as: English or French, BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC).

Education:

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a specialization in communications, journalism, public relations or other specialty relevant to the position.

Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum educational standard whenever a bachelor’s degree without a specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Experience planning, delivering and evaluating events in a professional setting.
Experience giving presentations to diverse audiences.
Experience in providing advice to supervisors or management.
Recent* experience in researching and responding to enquiries to any of the following: general public, internal stakeholders or external stakeholders.
Recent* experience in researching and writing a variety of communications products such as briefing notes, backgrounders, presentations, brochures, Web content.
Recent* experience in assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of communications or outreach strategies.

Recent* experience is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years.

Experience in producing communications products and activities targeted at the education community.

Social media

Experience providing strategic advice to supervisors on digital communications or social media.
Recent* experience assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of communication strategies and plans with a focus on new media, digital or social media.
Experience developing, implementing and monitoring a digital or social media publishing schedule.
Experience using digital or social media tools for analysis or reporting purposes.

Enquiries

Recent* experience in the development and writing of training or educational materials intended/designed for adult learners such as user guides or help files, in print and electronic/digital formats.

Web

Experience in programming accessible web documents in HTML5 and CSS3.
Experience in programming mobile-friendly web pages using responsive web design.
Experience using the following web publishing software: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat
Excellent knowledge of W3C Web Accessibility Guidelines, version 2, Level AA

Conditions of employment
