Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one indeterminate position. However, a pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar or identical positions of various durations (specified period, indeterminate, deployment, assignment, secondment and acting) and various language profiles in Transport Canada.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE :
• Experience in preparing technical reports
• Experience in providing technical advice in a regulatory environment
• *Recent and significant experience in interpretation and application of the Canadian Rail Operating Rules as a locomotive engineer, conductor or railway traffic controller

*Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities normally acquired over a period of three (3) years; and the performance of those duties within the last five (5) years.

• Willingness and ability to work overtime, including nights, weekends and stand-by (on call).
• Willingness and ability to work in adverse environments and weather conditions.
• Willingness and ability to work alone in isolated areas.

Conditions of employment

• Reliability status security clearance.
• Possession of a valid Provincial Driver’s License.
• Willingness and ability to travel on short notice for extended periods regionally, nationally and internationally using all modes of transportation.
• Physical environment: This position requires, on occasion, physical effort to climb structures and equipment of facilities on sites where the access is difficult and the terrain rugged.
