Duties

Under the general direction of the Director, Capital Division, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for:
- leading the development and interpretation of capital and related policies and guidelines for financial institutions;
- representing OSFI in international forums to advocate OSFI positions and interests; and
- providing technical support to financial institutions and others within OSFI, including assisting in the evaluation of risk and the appropriate capital treatment.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff two (2) positions as Senior Analyst, Capital Division.

This process may also be used to create a pool of partially-qualified and/or qualified candidates to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures (e.g. indeterminate, term, casual) and other requirements at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a degree* from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in economics, commerce, business administration, finance, accounting, actuarial science or public administration.

*The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate or a higher level degree, as established by educational authorities.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
- Significant** and recent*** experience in prudential policy development or monitoring policy compliance and performance for financial institutions.
- Experience in making presentations to senior management.
- Experience in writing reports that present complex issues, develop options and make well-reasoned recommendations.
- Experience conducting financial analyses.

**Significant is defined as the breath and complexity of experience that would normally be acquired over a period of at least 2 years, where the experience was part of the regular work duties of the candidate.
***Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.

ASSET EDUCATION:
- A graduate degree****with an acceptable specialization in economics, commerce, business administration, finance, accounting, actuarial science or public administration, or another specialty relevant to the position.

****The term “graduate degree” refers to a Master’s or a higher level degree, as established by educational authorities.
