Duties

Under the supervision of the Manager, Procurement and Contracting, the Contracting Officer is responsible for executing on a variety of procurement and contracting activities on behalf of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). The Contracting Officer carries tasks associated with less complex procurement and contracting actions, relying on established policies, practices and regulations which guide the delivery of services. The Contracting Officer provides information and advice to internal clients regarding standardized approaches for the procurement of goods and services; assists in the preparation of documentation required to initiate and complete procurement and contracting actions; and is responsible for the purchasing of approved IT-related products for clients across organization in accordance with established procurement and/or contracting processes.

EDUCATION
- Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the performance of procurement and contracting activities for goods or services within the federal government;
- Experience in providing advice and support to clients or management on procurement and contracting issues;

ASSET EDUCATION
- Successful completion of at least two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in Material Management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
- Successful completion of a minimum of two (2) courses required for the Certification Program for the Federal Government Procurement and Materiel Management Community.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE
- Experience in reviewing Statements of Work
- Experience using the Material Management module in SAP for purchasing
- Experience working in procurement within a provincial, territorial, or municipal government

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness and ability to work overtime when required.
