Duties

- Performs short order cooking, such as the preparation of sandwiches, omelettes, eggs, etc.
- Prepares packaged food products, independently and/or as part of a team.
- Prepares salad and buffet items for daily meal production.
- Prepares and sets-up sandwich bar.
- Assists in preparation of bakery products, including cutting, portioning and serving items.
- Assists with the preparation/cooking of a variety of food items according to specific instructions and established recipes.
- Cleans and disinfects work surfaces, equipment, tools, utensils as well as floors and dining areas.
- Receives and stores supplies.
- Operates cash registers/Point of Sale Terminals to collect meal charges from clients.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill two positions indeterminately. A pool of qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions (including lower level positions) on an indeterminate or term basis and with various security requirements.

-Experience providing food services in an institutional, commercial or industrial food service environment.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

-Secondary school diploma

-Educational qualifications relevant to the position being staffed (e.g.: baking, fast or short order cooking programs, courses or certificates)

Degree equivalency

-Experience in a short order cook or equivalent position

-Experience operating a cash register/Point of Sale Terminal

Conditions of employment

• Reliability Clearance
• Must be willing and able to lift up to 20 kgs
• Must be willing and able to wear and/or utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety regulations.
• Must be willing and able to work shift work including evenings holidays and weekends
• Work overtime on occasion

You may be assessed using diverse methods of evaluation, such as a written exam, interviews, a simulation exercise and reference checks. If the simulation exercise is chosen as a part of the assessment, it will take place in North Bay, Ontario. Candidates will be responsible to cover their own travel and accomodation expenses related to this assessment.
