Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada with various tenures. The pool can be used to staff positions with various linguistic profils and various security requirements. The positions are located in the National Capital Area.

NOTE: All candidates MUST answer the screening questions. Education:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in : Translation, French literature or English literature.

Degree equivalency

Experiences:

EX1 - Experience in writing procedures, business proposals or reports.

EX2 - Recent* experience in the use of computer using various software program such as word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation, as well as spelling-check or proofreading aids.

EX3 - Recent* experience in editing, proofreading and comparative reading of correspondence such as communiqués, letters, emails or newsletters.

EX4 - Experience in translating correspondence such as communiqués, letters, emails or newsletters from English to French and from French to English.

*”Recent” experience is defined as having been obtained in the last five (5) years.

Knowledge:

K1 - Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and style.

K2 - Knowledge of terminology research techniques and Internet search methods to find information needed to support edits and corrections.

K3 - Knowledge of writing, editing and proofreading principles and practices to edit and adapt documents and correspondence for the audience.

Abilities:

A1 - Ability to correct documents for grammatical and format errors.

A2 - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

A3 - Ability to do comparative reading and make associated changes in the documents in order that documents being revised have the same meaning in each official language and that there are no gaps.

A4 - Ability to manage multiple priorities.

A5 - Ability to communicate effectively orally.

A6 - Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
