As an IT professional, the main duties are:
Support in the design, analysis, research and development, testing, upgrading, maintenance and troubleshooting of components of IT applications (including web-based), as well as participation in integrating systems for clients.

A pool of partially assessed qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions within Statistics Canada with various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB profiles) and various security requirements. These positions may be staffed on an indeterminate (permanent) or determinate (temporary) basis. Most positions are in the NCR (National Capital Region) but there might be some positions staffed in the regional offices (Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Sturgeon Falls, Toronto, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Halifax).

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Definition of combination of education, training and/or experience:
A candidate who does not meet the minimum education must have a secondary school diploma with two years of relevant IT related experience to equate with each year of missing post-secondary education.
ESSENTIAL - EXPERIENCE
EXP1. Recent* and Significant** experience working in an IT environment.
EXP2. Recent* Experience in preparing technical documentation, such as, but not limited to, procedures, user guides or IM/IT requirements.
*Recent within the last three (3) years.
**Significant experience is defined as the breadth and depth of experience acquired in approximately the last five (5) years and may include relevant student work.
