Screening questions will be used as the primary source for assessing the education and experience criteria, validated by your resume (CV). Therefore it is important that your answers factually reflect the essential and any asset education and experience criteria you possess. Experience criteria may be assessed on the basis of the frequency, scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed as well as the autonomy required of the candidate to perform the activities.

At the Canada Gazette Directorate, the desktop publishing team is professional and passionate by their work, and dedicated to serving Canadians. The offices are located in a modern work environment situated in the heart of downtown Ottawa. Desktop publishers are equipped with the latest technology to perform their daily work.
The content that is published in the Canada Gazette differs in each publication, and the work of desktop publishers is assuredly and continuously filled with challenges. The work of a desktop publisher at the Canada Gazette Directorate requires a technical expertise, precision, and is also focused on client service. The Canada Gazette is an essential element of the Canadian regulatory process and must be published according to legislated timelines, which means that Canada Gazette Directorate employees may sometimes be required to work overtime hours.
The intent of this appointment process is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis and to establish a pool. The results of this process may be used to staff identical or similar positions of various tenures with various official language proficiencies and various security profiles within Public Services and Procurement Canada.

EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma from a recognized institution or employer- approved alternatives.
Note: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Significant* and recent* experience working in a publication or production environment
- Significant* and recent* experience in coordinating or overseeing the production of publication projects
- Significant* and recent* experience in troubleshooting publication issues using a tool such as Adobe InDesign
- Significant* and recent* experience in proposing or recommending solutions to publication issues such as layout or deadlines
- Significant* and recent* experience in training or in guiding employees on the desktop publishing process for a publication
- Significant* and recent* experience in participating in or leading special projects related to a publication tool
*Significant is defined as having gained experience for a continuous period of one year on a continual basis. Significant also refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities.
**Recent is defined as having acquired the experience in the last 3 (three) years.
EDUCATION:
Post-secondary diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in graphic design or desktop publishing.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience leading the work of others
- Experience in graphic design
- Experience in web publishing
- Experience in using Adobe InDesign in a publication or production environment
