Provision of seasoned classification advice to managers and other internal clients and stakeholders on a variety of classification and organizational design issues, which are most frequently associated with proposed job and work design considerations, and carrying out classification reviews, including preparing rationales and conducting on-sites/desk audits. The position ensures effective ongoing record keeping related to position information, classification data, evaluation outcomes and the work of OSFI’s Job Evaluation Committee.
The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions is an independent agency of the Government of Canada, established in 1987 to contribute to the safety and soundness of the Canadian financial system. OSFI supervises and regulates federally registered banks and insurers, trust and loan companies, as well as private pension plans subject to federal oversight.
As a Classification Advisor at OSFI, you will use the Hay Plan to evaluate positions and will work on a diversity of classification projects and initiatives as part of a motivated and dynamic human resources team. Clients are located in our head office in Ottawa as well as in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.
The immediate need is to staff one position with a language requirement of bilingual imperative BBB/BBB on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, acting, etc.), linguistic profiles (CBC/CBC, BBB/BBB, etc.) and/or security requirements (reliability, secret, etc.) within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree* from a recognized university with specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education, sociology or another field relevant to the work to be performed.
*The term "degree" refers to a baccalaureate or a higher level degree, as established by educational authorities.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in providing professional advice to management on a variety of organization design and classification issues
- Experience evaluating diverse roles at various levels
- Experience in conducting relativity research and analysis
- Experience in conducting on-site verifications and preparing coincidence and non-coincidence reports
- Experience participating on classification committees
ASSET EDUCATION
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation
- Completion of formal training on the Hay Group Guide Charts and job evaluation methodology
- Completion of one or more of the following Canada School of Public Service organization and classification courses: P911, P912, and P916
- Classification certification or accreditation
ASSET EXPERIENCE
- Experience leading or participating in organization wide classification initiatives within a unionized environment
- Experience in evaluating and implementing generic job descriptions
- Experience in evaluating positions and writing rationales using the Hay Plan
