Screening questions have been built into the application process. Answers provided to the screening questions will be used to assess occupational certifications and experience. The licenses must be copied and sent electronically to . The front and back on the license must be included and all writing and pictures must be clear. Failure to provide proof of your occupational certifications no later than the date and time indicated above may result in elimination from this process.

It is intended that assessments for positions in Petawawa will take place during the week of 11 to 15 December 2017. Assessments will take place in Petawawa, Ontario and candidates will be required to cover their own travel costs to attend the assessment. Candidates must be available during this time period as exceptions will only be made on a case-by-case basis and for extenuating circumstances only.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) position at the GL VHE 10 group and level on an indeterminate basis in Petawawa, Ontario. This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates and may be used to staff future GL VHE 10 vacancies of various tenures with various security requirements. Hiring managers may also use this process to staff GL VHE 09 positions in Ontario Region.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Depending on the position to be staffed, one or more of the following will be required:

OC1: Possession of a valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 310T Truck and Coach Technician license

OC2: Possession of a valid 310S Automotive Service Technician license issued by the Province of Ontario OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 310S Automotive Service Technician license.

OC3: Possession of a valid 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician license issued by the Province of Ontario OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificates equivalent to the 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician license.

OC4: Possession of a valid and unrestricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class “A” vehicles with airbrake endorsement (Z) or other provincial or territorial equivalent

OC5: Possession of a valid and unrestricted driver’s license issued by the Province of Ontario for Class “G” vehicles or other provincial or territorial equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

EX1: Experience in the inspection and repair of gasoline engines

EX2: Experience in the inspection and repair of diesel engines

EX3: Experience in the inspection and repair of vehicle components (e.g. drive train, suspension systems, etc.).

EX4: Experience in diagnosing vehicle faults

EXPERIENCE:

AQ1: Experience in the inspection and repair of a variety of Heavy Duty Equipment.

AQ2: Experience using an SAP based program

AQ3: Experience mentoring technicians during on-the-job training

AQ4: Experience using Microsoft Office

AQ5: Recent* experience as a mechanic in a licensed garage or dealership, or DND Vehicle Maintenance Workshop

*Recent is defined as within the last five years

AQ6: Experience in the inspection and repair of firefighting equipment

AQ7: Experience in the inspection and repair of runway equipment

AQ8: Experience in the inspection and repair of refuelling equipment
