Duties

Stream 1: Technical Support Officer (National Network Operations Centre)
The overall function is to maintain optimal network operations across a variety of platforms, mediums and data communication technologies in respect of their limits. A CCG NOC technician manages, monitors networks and systems, and detects performance issues, analyses incidents, events and problems. Develop and test the procedures and tools involved in supporting databases. Install physical, virtual servers, NAS on the network. Manages, monitors the security access on the network. Ensure the control of the threats on the network. Ensure the respect of the network / systems standards. Ensure the control of the network growth. Fulfils the role of technical expert for the INNAV-VTMIS, AIS and network systems for all MCTS centres, the regional CCG technician staffs, CCG College and Canada/USA partners IT; direct them in diagnosing and resolving problems. Each NOC’s technician is part of a stand-by schedule to ensure a 24/7 support outside the business hours.

Stream 2: Senior Electronic Technologist
Leads, supervise and control the human, financial and materiel resources of a working group that provides installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and disposal services and expertise in support of CCG and DFO for electronics and informatics systems and equipment. In addition the senior techs implements the area installation program for all operational electronics and informatics equipment and systems, by receiving and interpreting installation packages provided by the engineering section, and is responsible for the physical installation and testing of such equipment and systems to prescribed standards.

Stream 3: Engineering Technologist
Acting as technical expert/authority, provision of technical advice to Production, other groups within ITS and clients within CCG and DFO both regionally and nationally on electronics and informatics assets. Specialized knowledge is used to make recommendations to colleagues, clients and senior management on the technical, regulatory and financial feasibility of the engineering aspect of electronics and informatics equipment and system replacement and modification proposals, as well as for the addition of new systems. This position is expected to develop documentation such as technical specifications and statements of work, standards, procedures, feasibility studies, installation specifications and engineering documents that govern the design, procurement, installation, maintenance and disposal of the Department's electronics and informatics assets.
