When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
When submitting an application to this selection process, you will be prompted to answer screening questions concerning the essential education, occupational certification and experience qualifications. It is your responsibility to provide clear and concrete examples in your responses to each question, including when (from-to), where (occupational title, organization) and how you obtained your education and experience. It is recommended that you describe the experience examples in specific terms, providing sufficient details so that the Assessment Board can clearly understand. Describe the situation/task, the action you took, what you accomplished and/or what you learned. The content of your response must be supported by your resume as your responses to these questions will be used as a primary source of information and your resume will only be used to validate this information. Should you indicate in your response "please refer to resume" your application will be rejected. Lack of examples and details will result in your application being rejected as the Assessment Board will have insufficient information to determine if the requirement is met.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) leads the management of Canada’s fisheries and the safeguarding of Canadian waters. The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), a Special Operating Agency within DFO, is responsible for services and programs that contribute to the safety, security, and accessibility of Canada’s waterways. With over 10,000 dedicated employees in over 400 locations across Canada, our Department is often the only federal presence in smaller coastal and remote communities. In January 2017, the Department received special recognition as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.
The Government of Canada has announced the Oceans Protection Plan, a whole-of-government approach to improve marine safety, to work with Indigenous groups, provinces, territories, and other stakeholders to better co-manage Canada’s oceans while advancing the Government’s broader objectives of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, protection of the environment, protection of our coasts and waterways, and economic growth for the middle class.
A pool will be created and may be used to staff various Indeterminate, Acting and Term positions at full or part-time hours and Casuals throughout the Western Region.
