Expert professional, operational advice and services on the development, enhancement, allocation, promotion and environmentally sustainable use of living aquatic resources in commercial, scientific, recreational, Aboriginal and international fisheries and aquaculture enterprises in the Region. These fisheries and aquaculture enterprises provide major economic and social benefits to Canadians.

The current need is to staff a permanent position in Quebec City. A pool of candidates will be created as a result of this process and could be used to fill opportunities of different tenures for identical positions within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans - Quebec Region (such as : Gaspé, Sept-Îles, Cap-aux-Meules and Quebec City), with various linguistic profiles and various security requirements which may vary according to the position being staffed.

STUDIES
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with a specialization in a field related to the position, such as biology, ecology, aquatic resource management, economics or another field related to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCES
Experience in providing advice to senior management (leaders of a private, public or community organization) concerning programs, policies and issues;
Experience in consulting or collaborating with Aboriginal groups, stakeholders, co-management agencies or other levels of government;
Experience in analyzing complex issues and developing strategic advice.
STUDIES
Master's degree from a recognized university with a specialization in a field related to the position, such as biology, ecology, aquatic resource management, economics or another field related to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCES
Experience in working with other departments or governments and stakeholder groups to resolve complex and sensitive issues;
Experience in writing Memorandums to Cabinet and submissions to the Treasury Board;
Experience in managing a grant and contribution program;
Experience in representing an organization as part of a working group or committee;
Experience in managing or coordinating a program related to the protection, conservation and sustainable development of Canada's ocean and natural resources;
Experience in developing or formulating policies or directives at the regional or national level.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

Official language proficiency: due to its unique character, this essential qualification could be assessed and required solely upon appointment.
