There are two streams of work in this process (Senior Systems Engineer and Engineering Manager), resulting in two different pools of qualified candidates.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established in each work stream and will be used to staff similar positions within Shared Services Canada in various locations across Canada. All federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this staffing process to appoint a candidate to its organization in a similar position.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in one of the following:
- Electrical engineering
- Computer (Software) engineering
- Computer (Hardware) engineering
- Network engineering
- Or another engineering specialty relevant to Information Technology (IT)
OR
Certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in a relevant engineering specialty
EXPERIENCE:
Common to both streams:
E1 – Significant and recent**experience in developing engineering specifications and in leading the engineering projects related to Network/Information Communication Technology (ICT) or Cyber and IT Security.
E2 - Significant and recent** experience in developing and providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management (director level or equivalent).
E3 - Significant and recent** experience in the management of financial resources.
STREAM 1 - Senior Systems Engineer
ES1 - Significant and recent** experience in evaluating proposals or in conducting studies for engineering projects related to Network/ICT and/or Cyber and IT Security, and in presenting the associated findings to peers and management.
ES2 – Significant and Recent** engineering experience in at least one of the following areas:

EM1 - Significant and recent** experience managing multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and technologists
EM2 - Significant and recent** experience in the management of human resources

K1 – Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices relevant to IT networking and/or Cyber and IT Security

K3 – Knowledge of current trends and best practices, as well as issues and challenges facing the public and the private sector in the fields of IM and IT (including, but not limited to networks, Cyber and IM/IT security)

CA1 – Project Management Certification (PMP / Prince 2 or other)
CA2 – Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification
CA3 – Recognized Architectural Framework
CA4 – Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
Common to both streams:
EA1 – Experience in planning, defining and/or implementing capital projects
EA2 – Experience in designing and/or implementing Cyber and IT Security systems
EA3 – Experience in designing and/or implementing Network/ICT systems
EA4 – Experience in managing ***complex technical projects
EA5 – Experience in establishing partnerships or fostering collaboration between different organizations
*** Complex technical projects means “Project Complexity and Risk Assessment (PCRA) 2 or higher“. The PCRA tool is defined by the Treasury Board Secretariat to support the Treasury Board Policy on the Management of Projects and derived from Continuous Risk Management Guidebook (1999) of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI).
