FOR EACH ESSENTIAL and ASSET CRITERION (that you possess), please provide concrete examples and the following MANDATORY information:
1. Name of the department or organization where the experience was acquired (WHERE);
2. Title of the position occupied and duration for which you exercised the functions (WHEN);
3. Specific details of tasks, projects, or accomplishments demonstrating how the experience was acquired (HOW).
The immediate need is to staff a bilingual imperative CBC/CBC position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from this process which may be used to staff similar positions within the Department of Justice with various tenures, linguistic profiles (bilingual imperative only) and condition of employments, which may vary according to the position to be staffed.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. EDUCATION:
• ED1 - A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution OR a diploma from an acceptable post-secondary educational program (2 years minimum) in a field relevant to the position to be staffed.
EXPERIENCE:
• EX1 - Significant* and relevant ** experience in researching, analyzing and interpreting legislation governing occupational health and safety.
• EX2 - Significant* and relevant** experience in offering advice and guidance to management on complex issues involving the application of legislation governing occupational health and safety.
• EX3 - Significant* experience in managing Occupational Health and Safety Corporate Program ***.
*Significant is defined as having experience whose depth and breadth is normally acquired over a period of approximately one (1) year .
** Relevant is defined as having experience in the interpretation of OHS legislation and provision of advice and guidance in support of management and workplace health and safety committees and/or Occupational Health and Safety policy committee. Please note that experience limited to serving on an occupational health and safety committee is insufficient to be deemed relevant.
*** Corporate Occupational Health and Safety Program: Mid - large public organizations or private corporations with a well-defined corporate program, structure and organization that is the business lead for identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining processes across the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure to liability in areas such physical, and personal risk; establish appropriate standards and risk controls associated with employee protection, emergency management and response. Typically, such organizations exist in large Government Departments (Federal, Provincial, Territorial), large Municipalities, large corporations and public or private organizations with significant employee populations (1000+) or campus type settings (e.g. hospitals, colleges, universities, large manufacturing plants, utilities companies, banks).
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
CERTIFICATION:
• AC1 - Active Canadian Registered Safety Professional.
• AC2 - College or University Certification in Occupational Health & Safety.
EXPERIENCE:
• AEX1 - Experience in supervision.
• AEX2 - Experience in the coordination of federal or provincial workers’ compensation claims.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• OP1 - Willingness and ability to work overtime, often on short notice.
• OP2 - Willingness and ability to travel.
Bilingual - Imperative
The immediate need is to staff a bilingual imperative CBC/CBC position. However, the pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff positions with various bilingual imperative profiles.
Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE:
• K1 - Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code Part II (CLC II) and Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (SOR/86-304)
• K2 - Knowledge of the Health and Safety program of Employment and Social Development Canada.
ABILITY:
• A1 - Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• A2 - Ability to write a briefing note.
• A3 - Ability to deliver a briefing orally.
