STREAM 2: Manager, Municipal Engineering

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada with various tenures such as temporary or permanent. The pool can be used to staff positions with various linguistic requirements and various security requirements.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in civil engineering, geological engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
AND
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
EXPERIENCE:
E1. Extensive* experience in providing building Structural, Municipal and/or Geotechnical engineering services, such as, but not limited to:
- concept and design development;
- design review and guidance;
- tender document preparation;
- construction supervision;
- scheduling and budget estimation.
E2. Experience in providing forensic analysis related to the review of assessment reports, conceptual options, preliminary designs and/or technical plans and construction specifications in the discipline(s) for which you are applying.
E3. Experience in providing functional advice related to real property assets in general or field of specialization such as building structural, municipal or geotechnical engineering.
E4. Significant** experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and programs.
E5. Experience in managing human and financial resources.
E6. Experience in providing strategic advice to clients and upper management.
* "Extensive" experience means approximately 12 years of experience in the related field including at least 7 years of Canadian experience.
** "Significant" experience means a minimum of 7-year experience.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Education* related to project management.
Education* or experience related to Heritage Conservation.
Experience related to ecologically responsible (sustainable) construction planning, detailing, practices and methods; assessment tools; etc.
* For the asset qualifications, “education” means specialized training, postgraduate certificate or diploma.
Secret security clearance
OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Willingness and ability to travel (i.e. make occasional visits to work sites).
Willingness to access and work in industrial settings and/or active construction sites.
Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion on short notice including weekends
