Intent of the process

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
- A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
- Post-Secondary training in a field associated with facilities management and a minimum three years detailed experience in providing technical support and advice in the operations and maintenance of commercial, industrial, or federal government facilities

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Recent experience managing the operations and maintenance of a complex commercial or industrial or federal government facility
- Experience implementing construction and renovation projects in a complex commercial or industrial or federal government facility
- Experience conducting inspections of building systems in a complex commercial or industrial or federal government facility
- Experience planning and managing human and financial resources
- Experience establishing collaborative working relationships with internal and/or external stakeholders to achieve program objectives
- Experience managing health and safety incidents and training

*Recent experience means the performance of duties within the last 24 months
**Significant experience means the performance of duties for a continuous period of 24 months

- BOMI Certification in Design, Maintenance, and Operation of Building Systems.
- Membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC or similar provincial affiliation

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Experience in participating in Building Condition Reports
- Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the Codes and/or Standards that apply to building design, building systems, building construction and building maintenance
- Knowledge of best practices and procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of buildings such as HVAC, Mechanical, Life Safety systems
- Knowledge of procedures and best practices for the safe operation and maintenance of building and grounds infrastructure systems
- Knowledge of building system functions
- Knowledge of project management
- Knowledge of appropriate usage of personal protective equipment

Abilities:
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Ability to manage conflicting issues and priorities
- Ability to manage staff and financial resources
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
