The immediate need is to staff one temporary position for one year. The position is located in Gatineau. Two other positions are to be staffed anticipatively, and one of these positions will be located in Gatineau and the other in Ottawa.
This selection process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates, which may be used to staff future needs of the Department and other government departments. Various pools of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (including determinate/indeterminate, acting, assignment, secondment), and/or various linguistic requirements (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, English Essential).

EDUCATION:
Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization such as chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, toxicology, or some other science and engineering specialization relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
- Significant* experience in analyzing and interpreting environmental data.
- Experience in preparing and presenting reports or briefing notes and providing advice in an expert role to managers or committees.
- Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to a group or audience.
*Significant: for period of 3 years or longer

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of environmental priorities in the federal government.
- Knowledge of key federal environmental legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of the concept and requirements of environmental assessment.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Knowledge of the mandate of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence.

Education:

Experience:
- Experience in analyzing environmental regulatory impact on organizational activities.
- Experience in developing or updating Environmental Management System consistent with ISO 14001.
