Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is the centre of action for government research and policy regarding energy, mining, forestry and earth sciences. It has an exciting mandate that is central to Government of Canada priorities. Our organization is dynamic, creative and resourceful.
The NRCan Booth Street complex is located within walking distance of Dows Lake, the Rideau Canal, and a network of paths through the greenspace of Commissioners Park, linking you to the city-wide urban cycling and pedestrian trail system. NRCan employees have access to amenities such as showers, change rooms and secure bicycle storage, allowing them to commute using Ottawa’s bike path system.
OUR IMMEDIATE NEED IS TO STAFF A BILINGUAL IMPERATIVE (BBB/BBB) POSITION ON AN INDETERMINATE BASIS.
A pool of fully qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the AS-06 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (i.e. Reliability, Secret, Top Secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in public administration, business administration, commerce or another discipline relevant to the position.
Significant* and recent** experience in planning, conducting and reporting on internal audits.
Recent** experience in presenting audit findings, audit conclusions and audit recommendations to senior management***.
Experience in supervising the work of junior audit staff.
Recent** experience in writing and reporting on complete or major sections of audit reports.
* Significant experience is defined as approximately three (3) years or more.
** Recent experience is defined as experience gained within the last five (5) years.
*** Senior management is defined as executives at the Director General level (or equivalent) and above.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a recognized professional accounting designation (i.e. CPA, CA, CMA or CGA).
Possession of a recognized professional internal audit designation (i.e. CIA, CGAP or CISA).
Experience using data analytics software such as ACL.
Experience using audit software such as TeamMate.
Experience in conducting continuous auditing.
Experience conducting follow-up on internal audit recommendations.
Experience performing consulting engagement or advisory work and communicating its results to senior management.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability and willingness to work overtime on occasion.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout Canada on occasion.
