The Parliamentary Translation Directorate is responsible for the translation and revision of the House of Commons and Senate committee proceedings, as well as parliamentary documents produced, in part, by the House of Commons and Senate, and their respective committees.

The intention of this process is to staff permanent (indeterminate) positions and temporary (term) positions, with a possibility of indeterminate in the end. This process may be used to establish a pool of candidates partially or fully qualified that may be used to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures (Indeterminate, Term, Acting, Secondment, Assignment and deployment) at the Translation Bureau within Public Services and Procurement Canada.

Bachelor's degree in translation from a recognized university.
At least two years' full-time experience as an autonomous English-French translator in a fast paced, operational environment.
Bilingual - Imperative (P--/PP-)
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of Canadian political current events and international current events.
Knowledge of the Canadian parliamentary system.
Ability to translate quickly, under pressure and within tight deadlines.

The work is done in the evening, from 4 pm to midnight, and sometimes at night (when necessary).
Translators are entitled to a 7% night shift premium, as well as parliamentary leave.
Reference checks may be sought.

A test may be administered.
An assignment, secondment, or acting appointment requires approval of your supervisor.
