EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
EXPERIENCE:
COMMON TO BOTH STREAMS:
Significant* experience working as an IT security specialist in at least one of the following areas. Please identify all areas that apply:
• Classified Systems
• IT Security Architecture
• IT Security Risk Management
• IT Security Operations
• Facilities or Emissions Security
• Communications Security (COMSEC)
*Significant experience in analyzing client requirements in the IT domain (as identified in experience #1), and identifying and/or developing the solutions to meet client business needs.
NOTE
*Significant is described as three (3) years’ experience within the last five (5) years.
STREAM 1 – Manager, Security
*Significant experience in leading a team of specialists conducting technical research and analysis in any area of IT Security (as identified in experience #1), and providing written technical advice, including recommendations, to various audiences.
*Significant experience planning, guiding, supervising and evaluating the work of IT Security staff.
NOTE
Significant is defined as three (3) years’ experience within the last five (5) years.
STREAM 2 – Senior Advisor, Security
*Significant experience in conducting technical research and analysis in any area of IT (as identified in experience #1), and providing written technical advice, including recommendations, to various audiences.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or another speciality relevant to the position to be staffed.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
1. ITIL Certification
2. Business Continuity Planning Certification
3. CISA: Certified Information Systems Auditor
4. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
5. Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) in one of the specializations under the Security Administration category as issued by SANS
6. Completion of courses within the COMSEC Custodian Certification Program (CCCP) under Communications Security Establishment (CSE)
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
ASSET EXPERIENCE for positions in classified systems including COMSEC
*Experience applying the IT Security Directives for the Control of COMSEC Material in the GoC (ITSD-03, 01, 06, ITSG-11) including working with Type-1 cryptography devices.
*Experience in providing recommendations and advice to IT Security-related executive-level governance committees.
*Experience assessing reference and/or technical architectures for IT infrastructure services including, but not limited to networks (LAN and WAN), platform (hosting and storage), and core services such as authentication mechanisms, virtual environments, VoIP, video, security perimeter and monitoring services, and encryption mechanisms.
*Experience working within the classified domain in an IT security environment.
*Experience working within the field of Technical COMSEC Inspections and/or Tempest environment.
*Experience in providing recommendations and advice to IT Security-related executive-level governance committees.
NOTE

ASSET EXPERIENCE for positions in facilities and emissions security
*Experience in providing recommendations and advice on audit and compliance processes, and change management, relating to IT Security.

*Experience in developing IT Security policies, standards, guidelines and/or processes.
*Experience in providing recommendations and advice on audit and compliance processes, and change management, relating to IT Security.
*Experience in providing recommendations and advice to IT Security-related executive-level governance committees.
*Experience in development and maintenance of Enterprise Security Architectures and/or on the Implementation of Architectural frameworks (TOGAF, SABSA, etc.).
*Experience assessing reference and/or technical architectures for IT infrastructure services including, but not limited to networks (LAN and WAN), platform (hosting and storage), and core services such as authentication mechanisms, virtual environments, VoIP, video, security perimeter and monitoring services, and encryption mechanisms.
