Work environment

The K Division Records Management Unit has an exciting opportunity as a Records Classifier in a dynamic team environment. The unit provides awareness, guidance and governance support on the life cycle management of administrative records to ensure compliance with policies, directives and legislation.

Reporting to the Divisional Records Manager, the position is responsible for maintaining over 30,000 physical records and 500,000 electronic records. The Records Management Unit provides support to 113 detachments and multiple business lines with the life cycle of records, from creation to disposition. As the federal government moves to electronic records, this position will be heavily involved with converting records from hard copy to electronic format. Additional responsibilities include:
• maintaining Divisional administrative records and employee files
• reviewing operational occurrence files for archival value
• monitoring and responding to a busy proxy account for file requests and client assistance
• supporting programs and business lines with life cycle management of information
• entering accurate data into multiple databases

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates that may be used to staff vacancies in the K Division Records Management Unit.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

ED1 - Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*
*Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Degree equivalency

Ex1 - Recent* and significant** experience working with Electronic Document and Records Management System (for example iRIMS, GCDOCS, RDIMS, Sharepoint)
Ex2 - Recent* and significant** experience working with a corporate database (for example MSAccess, SAP, Peoplesoft).
A1 - Ability to communicate effectively in writing.


*Recent is defined as within the past 5 years
**Significant is defined as ongoing responsibility for a minimum of 6 months consecutively

AED1 - Post-Secondary education with a degree/diploma/certificate in Information Management, Library Sciences, Administration

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.
