Duties

Installs, tests, evaluates, troubleshoots and provides expert assistance for all CD-ROMs and DVDs received in the TRC.

Provides technical reference support to Civil Aviation personnel and conducts searches through a variety of information resources and services including CD-ROMS, on-line search databases, periodicals and monographs

Catalogues all technical documents, regulatory publications and general reference material; processes new information and amendments; and maintains a control system for the Civil Aviation Technical Reference Centre in compliance with prescribed standards and regulatory requirements.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will initially be used to staff one (1) position indeterminately. A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, determinate or acting basis, within Transport Canada in the National Capital Region.

ED : Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Library and Information Science, or a library technician diploma, or a combination of cataloguing and acquisitions experience and training commensurate with the responsibilities of the position

EXP1: Experience cataloguing Special Library Collections and in using an online cataloguing system

EXP2: Experience assessing and installing CD-ROMs and software
