Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of candidates. This pool of candidates may be used to staff similar positions with similar requirements.

The intent is to staff this position via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

• Graduation with a relevant degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Nursing.

Degree equivalency

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in a province or territory of Canada.

• *Recent experience working in community health and/ or public health programs.
• Experience working in one or more components of a Communicable Disease Control program such as: health emergency management, vaccine preventable diseases, communicable disease, tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases, harm reduction, blood borne pathogens, sexually transmitted infections and infection control.
*Recent is usually defined as taking place approximately in the last five years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Graduation with an advanced degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a health related field.

Degree equivalency

• Experience working with Aboriginal clients or organizations.
• Experience in the management of projects or initiatives.
• Experience in reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing written reports.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Possession of a valid driver’s license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver’s license.
• Possess and maintains registration as a Registered Nurse in a province or territory of Canada.
• Willing and able to travel - this could include travel to remote locations and by small boats or small aircraft.
