The immediate need is to staff one position for a specified period. A pool of qualified candidates might be established and may be used to staff similar, term and/or indeterminate positions, acting, or assignments/secondments situations with various tenures, linguistic profiles and security levels within the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General in Ottawa.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (baccalaureate).
Two-year experience delivering heritage or cultural interpretive programs.
Experience supervising a team of more than 10 front-line employees in the delivery of visitor services in the tourism, cultural, educational or museum environment.
Bilingual - Imperative (CCC/CCC)

• Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of the Governor General.
• Knowledge and practical application of heritage interpretation theories, methods and techniques.
ABILITIES:
• Ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines and frequent last minute changes.
• Ability to supervise a team of guide-interpreters, including their training and performance management.
• Ability to coordinate visitor services daily program (for example planning and overseeing daily operations and/or problem solving).
• Ability to coordinate guided tours for high profile dignitaries, including liaising with OSGG senior management and external departments or institutions.
• Ability to manage staff scheduling within allocated financial and human resources.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Experience working for an institution that manages large scale public programmes (with more than 50 000 visitors a year).
Secret security clearance
Availability to work on-call and on-site several weekends and evenings during the year.

Various assessment tools may be used in this selection process, such as a written examination, a take-home exam, an interview, references, etc.
A security check will be administered and proof of citizenship, education, and at least 2 work references with names and applicable phone numbers will be required. Security Check will include a credit check and fingerprinting. Successful candidate(s) must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment throughout their employment.
Please note that this external process is being conducted simultaneously with the internal process 17-GGS-25434-IA-142. There is no need to submit your application for both processes.
