The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.
The inventory will be used to establish a candidate pool for filling current and future vacancies with various tenures (term, indeterminate, casual) and will be used to fill positions in Comox and Esquimalt, BC

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Occupational Certification:
OC1: Possession of a valid Inter-provincial Red Seal Certificate in Carpentry.
OR
Technician Qualification Level minimum QL5 or DP2 (Construction Technician) in the Canadian Armed Forces.
NOTE: The Technician Qualification will be accepted at time of application, however, candidates will be required to obtain their Red Seal Certification prior to appointment. For information on obtaining your Red Seal please visit the ITA Website for Holders of a Military Trade Certification.
Experience:
EX1: Experience working as a carpenter in maintenance or construction environment.
EX2: Experience in installing, repairing and maintaining a variety of structural systems.
EX3: Experience in operating and maintaining a variety of hand powered tools.
EX4: Experience with both the National Building Code and Fire Code of Canada.
English or French

AQ7: Experience interpreting drawings and specifications.
AQ8: Experience using a computer including use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
AQ9: Experience in Lock Repair Maintenance
AQ10: Experience in jetty and marine structure maintenance.
AQ11: Experience in cabinet construction and installation

OR3: Willing and able to work overtime, including working outside normal working hours and standby.
OR4: Willing and able to work at heights.
