EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training, and/or experience whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP, or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary education at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions in which the manager has specified this alternative.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the IM/IT field.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a data related capacity to support, design, develop, and maintain IT enabled solutions that meet business requirements.
Significant* experience designing, developing and maintaining data models (logical and physical) that integrate data from multiple sources.
Significant* experience in meeting with clients to review their data-related requirements and the resulting implications on their business.
Significant* experience in providing recommendations to senior management (Director and above) in one or more of the following areas: data modelling, data management, data architecture, data warehousing, or data analytics.
Experience establishing standards and best practices in at least one of the following areas: data modelling, data management, data architecture, data warehousing or data analytics.
Note:
*Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of three (3) years.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience developing enterprise data models.
Experience developing logical and physical data models to support an enterprise data warehouse.
Experience working with ERWIN to develop and maintain logical and physical data models.
Experience in data management working to design, develop, and maintain IT enabled solutions that meet organizational business needs.
Experience in data architecture working to design, develop, and maintain IT enabled solutions that meet organizational business needs.
Experience working within the discipline of enterprise architecture in one or more of the following architecture domains: business architecture, data architecture, application architecture, or technology architecture.
Experience conducting data analysis using tools such as PL/SQL Developer.
Experience using automated tools to profile, assess and measure data quality.
Experience developing ETL specifications to support ETL development.
Experience validating ETL specifications to support ETL development.
Experience leading or managing an activity or initiative to implement data management methodologies, standards and best practices.
Experience working on Business Intelligence (BI) or analytics projects or activities.
Experience working on GIS projects or activities.
Experience working on data visualization projects, activities or initiatives.
Experience working to support data discovery.
Experience working to design, develop or support an enterprise data warehouse environment.
